Hello, my name is Femme and I reside
in Brisbane, Australia.
Previous Medical History: I was diagnosed with Pheochromocytoma, a word I could not even pronounce. My G.P. who is a very open and blunt doctor described it as the following: a tumour on the adrenal gland which had to be surgical removed.
After numerous years of suffering from elevated blood pressure which doctors were unable to stabilize, I was referred to a specialist. This fellow sent me for further tests, 24 hour urine, ultra sound and finally a CT scan. The results of the CT scan showed a tumour on the right adrenal gland.
Well shock, horror, words can't describe how I felt. I never had an operation in my entire life, two children by natural birth that's it. After feeling sorry for myself for a few days, I decided to do some research on Pheochromocytoma and came across your website, what a blessing.
Since writing on your message board I have received so much support from your team for which I will always be thankful. I have gone to just about every website available that mentions the word Pheochromocytoma and printed it out when necessary. This allowed me to go armed with all relevant information to doctors, surgeons.
The surgeon I saw would only perform open surgery, this left me no option to inquire further about the Lap.Op. Well, low and behold the surgeon rang me at home to inform me of a doctor who would perform the lap.op. I feel some background knowledge and a willing doctor is very helpful.
I will keep everyone updated on the support message board.
Femme's Update on April 2004: It has been
3 years this coming October since I had the op. and removal of tumour and
adrenal, never felt better.
